If a band considers themselves as "screamo powerviolence", it's bound to be good. United Nations is basically an on-and-off supergroup, playing shows whenever they can and feel like it. The only member who legally has to stay un-anonymous is Geoff Rickly from Thursday, since the other members of the band are signed to other labels which prevents them from revealing their identities. The other two known members are Daryl Palumbo (Glassjaw) and Ben Koller (Converge), however, Ben has reportedly quit the band since last year. During the performances in 2013, two members from Pianos Become the Teeth has filled in (or could be permanent members by this point). However, Ben Koller's signature drum patterns can clearly be heard on both releases, so his shoes aren't exactly easy to fill. For fans of bands Orchid, Loma Prieta and Thursday's slightly chaotic moments.

Suis la Lune discography (2005-2012)
I'm pretty sure that I'm right when I say that Suis la Lune was one of the best, most influental and original screamo bands ever. The major reason behind that is their close relationship with emo and indie rather than powerviolence and loudness in general, which seems to be the latest fashion within the screamo genre. Their lyrics matches their sound a lot, focusing on tenderness and a somewhat careful feeling. Since the band is on hiatus, parts of their sound is carried on to Sore Eyelids, the singer's (Henning Runolf) side project. He's also a member of Years Passing, Edweena and a live member of Trembling Hands.
For fans of The Pine and The Saddest Landscape.

Vales discography (2011-)
If you ever get a lawsuit from a band that claims they have the rights to a word, do what this band did. The Veils saw the band's name as a threat, so they had to change their name from "Veils" to Vales. Such a good move. The band is a combination of melodic hardcore, post-hardcore and some hints of emo powerviolence, which makes them stand out among the bands they're normally compared to. Their lyrics are really well-written as well. They're releasing a debut album, which originally had a release date around the summer, but hopefully there are some news around it soon. FFO: Landscapes, Bastions and longing for the summer amidst a giant snowstorm.

My Iron Lung discography (2011-)
My Iron Lung started out as a pop-punk/emo-band, in the veins of Title Fight and Tigers Jaw, but grew into something more post-hardcoreish at the latest release. Being signed to Pure Noise Records (The Story So Far, Landscapes, State Champs), having released an astonishingly good EP last year and having toured with Vales this whole summer - this band has several chances of becoming a well known name in the genre, despite the Radiohead-references. For fans of Troubled Coast, Mewithoutyou and Thursday.

Meleeh discography (2004-2010)
Meleeh was one of the most influental bands from Sweden, but is severely overlooked these days. They had their own sound, somewhere between screamo, hardcore punk and really doomy parts. Powerful, yet filled with angst and passion. The singer is currently in a hardcore band called Keep Rising, which sadly has no musical relation to Meleeh. I'd love to mention some bands they sound like, but there aren't any. I can only describe them as if At the Drive-In had a baby with Suis la Lune, whilst cheating with Shining.

Via Fondo discography (2010-)
Hailing from the Uppland district in Sweden, Via Fondo is one of the few screamo bands in Sweden that still exists. Being built from the ashes of Anemone in 2010, they evolved their sound even further. The singer has done the artwork for their releases, and does artwork for several other bands. He runs a pretty cool blog too. For fans of Followed By 37 Seconds of Happiness, Suis la Lune and Merchant Ships.

Killing the Dream discography (2004-2010)
Hopefully, this band needs no thorough introduction. Killing the Dream was one of the pioneers of melodic hardcore, as we define it today. All their full length albums were released by Deathwish. Inc, which also contains the signature artwork of Jacob Bannon. For fans of Give Up the Ghost and Modern Life is War.
